    Hello,

I've made an x265 video for windows encoder codec, based on the x264vfw and the x265 encoder library.

    Homepage is:
    http://mpxplay.sourceforge.net

Discussion & new release informations can be found here:

x265VFW Oh yes just installed it and there it is for use in Virtualdub video encoders.

Has the same interface as x264vfw and the same options. This is what we need just like x264 this is going to make encoding x265 videos a breeze.

And I will from now only be encoding with x265vfw since I have seen the quality of x265 videos which in my opinion is far superior that x264 was ever able to encode to. That is quality video in I have seen some excellent quality video out for HEVC-HVC1-HEV1-x265 videos.

Thanks for coding this and please don't stop coding this.

In a few days the traffic for this will no doubt be as high as x264vfw was or more. It is needed and we appreciate you encoding it.

    Thank You :)

Make a suggestion for x265vfw to have its own page at sourceforge just as x264vfw has had for years.

makes it far easier for everyone to find. Such as typing into browser URl bar x265vfw then go straight to sourceforge x265vfw web page. As we do for x264vfw.

Today I have had a quick play notice crashes when encode. But when restart virtualdub after a crash using using virtualdub crash restore feature. loads the video again with same settings as before the crash and does then encode without crashing. Unknown if x265vfw or virtualdub fault error gives no indication.

Here I write settings used etc so you can try get the same crash problem.

Using no lossless intermediate file for this quick test.

    Source 1280x720 16x9 MKV containing x264-aac

I selected settings similar to x264vfw where possible that I know of atm.
    Preset: Any
    Tuning: None
Profile: Auto (x264 I normaly use High. Unknown what to use for same with x265vfw for these test encodes I set at auto)
    Level: (4.1 as used with x264) 4.1 and 5.1
Rate: ABR single pass 700, 1400, and 2800 (source was MediaInfo shows 1630)
    SAR w/h 1/1
    VFW
    HEVC
    Virtualdub Hack: Yes

If you try that maybe you get the crash. If not first time try again with adjusting to another preset it then will crash. Crash info gives no indication.
    Disassembly:
    00000000: 0000 add [eax], al <-- FAULT

This is the first line in Virtualdub debug log. And has no other indications to the problem. With no Virtualdub Debug Symbols external debug of little use.
    Virtualdub Filter: Resize (internal)
720x405 (shows and encodes to 720x404 when ok resize)

    Audio: Direct Stream Copy
(copy source to destination as is. That I do for all video encodes)

Hi. I am ok with general announcement which Mpxplay made. But can you move your following discussion and other question about x265vfw to its own Discussion board in Mpxplay's project (it probably would be better for him also).
