it's nice to see active development of wvware again.
One feature that would be really useful would be footnote conversion.
I'm hoping to convert my wife's thesis into LaTeX, and there are lots
of footnotes which she's keen not to mess up. Following the message
on the Forum on the website, I had a look around references.c to see
if it would be easy to implement footnotes. However looking at the
rest of the sources, I got the impression that the output of the text
is now done via an XML library function and the methods used in
references.c wouldn't work with the current version.
I know footnotes are on the TODO list, but I was wondering how soon
they might be implemented. If it's not going to happen very soon, I
might be able to spend some time over the Christmas holidays having a
go at implementing them.

I'm trying to convert from word to Html with wvHtml. All is working fine but
the footnotes are loosing his numbers.
That means that the footnotes are located at the end of the html document,
as a common text and that there are no references to the notes in the main
Is there any way to solve this problem and make the footnotes work properly.
(I've seen an example at Internet in which the footnotes where correctly
located and linked).

I believe that the current version of wvHtml doesn't do footnotes
properly, though older versions did. There is source code to do this in
the wvHtml tree, but it relates to the data structures used in the older
version of wvHtml. It seems like the bulk of development effort is going
into a complete rewrite of the library call wv2, so although I'm sure a
competent programmer who understood the word format could add footnote
support without too much trouble, there probably isn't much point doing so
until wv2 appears.
