I think that wlassistant should not say "Connection failed", if it cannot reach the internet (I assume that is what it tries to do when it is testing the connection). It should decide if the connection was established on whether you were assigned an IP, because many WLANs require a browser-based login.
Also, it would be nice, if wlassistant would minimize to the tray.
It would be nice to include the WPA and WPA2 protocols into wlassistant since WEP has been completely hacked as of many crackers out there..WPA is the future wireless protocol with many encryption features...Since kubuntu has included wlassistant as the main wireless manager this feature should be at the highest priority.:)
