I have good news and bad news. Good news: I have confirmation that this is a bug in the XmlReader. Apparently there is a bug in the XmlReader where it sometimes gets confused while parsing processing instructions and messes up. Bad news: The patch for the bug is in the .NET Framework 1.0 SP1 or .NET Framework 1.1 SP3 that is slated to be released sometime this summer (assuming all goes well). Removing the processing instructions would be terribly difficult right now, so if you can survive for a bit longer until the service pack comes out that would be ideal. If you get stuck, all you really need to is add some space to your elements to get the XmlReader to parse text a bit differently. This is a truly voodoo bug and explains why I could never repro the issue. |
