So can anyone please help here?

After launching wired none of the programms and even wired can't produce any nothing but noice!
And only restarting `alsasound` service can help to stop that noice.
But wired still woun't make any sound :(

Ok, the problem comes from some buggy portaudio things dealing with ALSA. It seems that there recent changes on ALSA backend are involved.
We're trying to fix it by choosing a portaudio build wich is known to work with Wired...

You'll be advised as soon ait it will be available

Ok, and could you please gimme a link to portaudio that U use?

    • Pierre-Jean Leger

Well, at the very moment, we don't have one....
But if you've got some old portaudio tarballs, it seems that a few days/week ago everything was fine...

I found an other old portaudio release and have the same problem again, but now it gived some other output. If this woun't help than i'll wait for you to notify about wellsupported portaudio release.

      So, here it is:

Portaudio's CVS is finally working fine with Wired.
We're gonna give you tarballs && binaries asap.

are there any tarballs of portaudio you can provide yet?

The same problems for me on Gentoo Linux. I've compiled Portaudio and Wired with ebuilds mentioned above, but it produces noise after configuring a sound card.

Then I tried to compile portaudio from recent snapshot and CVS but it didn't help. Then I compiled it with JACK support only and plugged the Wired output into JAMin spectrum analyzer and the noise was still there (though, now I could see its spectrum :))
