Hi,

congratulations, this is a great project! Especially
the small size, ease of use and possibility to
distribute a web app in a single file make winstone a
true alternative to Jetty.

However, the GPL is very unfriendly for using this
product!
For the next release, please consider changing the
license to something more "business-friendly". If, say,
the BSD ar Apache licenses are too liberal for you,
what about CDDL?

Best regards,
Bernd.

Thanks - I appreciate the feedback.

About 3 days ago, I sent a message to the winstone-devel
mailing list announcing my intention to switch to dual
CDDL + LGPL license at version 0.8.1. This is probably
about 1-2 weeks away at this point. Geert Bevin made some
comments similar to yours, and explained why the dual
license would be the most effective.

    Hope it helps,

    Rick

It seems a logical choice to give users the possiblity to
develop servlets and distribute with a single .jar file. It
    is really a neat feature!

Good luck with the next releases.

    Bernd,

The license has been updated on all source files in CVS,
and the next release (v0.8.1) is planned for 2 or 3 days
from now. I'm going to mark the bug closed, because as of
right now, a commercial-friendly version is available
    through CVS.

Hopefully the new license will help the embedders in the
    community a little more.

    Regards,

    Rick Knowles
