Yes, I realize this is wishful thinking. And that it would
be a lot of work.

But it would be nice if this were cross-platform.

    But reality is that current active developers don't have
    time for this before next stable release. But if there is
    somebody interested in doing required work...

    In short, we are interested in this, but it requires others
    helping us.

    Couple of words about the status of Linux too:
    We've done some work to convert our code from Windows/MFC specific code to more general STL code. This is just a small step. And lots of work is required to even complete this first step.
