I'm now looking again into buying a one4all remote and the JP1

I am pretty sure that JP1 will not enable you to trigger an IR command. It
does allow you to add devices, save configurations, and add functionality
but strictly down loads and uploads to memory.
There apparently was an earlier OFA device that had an interface that would
allow the triggering of a command with a PC. IIRC the problem with this
earlier device was that it will have a limited, out of date library and not
compatible with the JP1 remotes. This topic was discussed within the past
few months on the JP1 group here http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/join.
There is a serial based device the Appied Digital Ocelot
http://www.appdig.com/ocelot.html that is about $140. I use this with Win2K
and it is very reliable for IR. It can do x10 and with additional models can
interface and control with a number of i/o devices. It can be programmed as
a stand alone or used in conjunction with several popular Home Automation
programs. It can learn IR commands and do IR match to trigger other events
on received commands.
If you go this route I have extensively used some freeware, GenIRDB that can
generate virtually any IR command without learning includeing the discrete
commands. GenIRDB can also generate commands for the Nirvis SLinke but it is
approximately twice the cost.
I will be glad to provide any follow up information if you or anyone else is
interested and I have no affiliation with any of the products mentioned.
