Build 9half of Widelands, a Free, cross-platform strategy game has been
released. The game is heavily inspired by Settlers II by BlueByte.
9half is an interim release which has many new features, but not all
features marked for build-10. We hope to attract new people to widelands
with this release.
Widelands uses SDL as graphics and input library and is currently
available for Linux/x86, Mac OSX, Windows 32 and in Source Code.
Christmas came early this year:
This release brings sound-effect support and music. Both - effects and
music - are still lacking a lot, so if you're able to create these,
Loading and Saving was reworked, new trigger/event framework was
installed. This brings - together with a new font renderer - much more
style to the campaigns.
Another major point of this release are the complete graphic sets for
the barbarian buildings, a lot of the other graphics were redone too;
also the support for localisations was added and this release brings a
bit of it already - german translations is quite far. People are
searched to translate more of the game.
