Pentaho's acquisition of the Weka project is the latest chapter in a series of initiatives designed to accelerate the development of best-in-class, integrated open source BI projects. Weka is a natural fit with Pentaho, adding data mining capabilities to the broad range of business intelligence features that the suite already provides, such as ETL, reporting, OLAP and analysis features. This combination will benefit both the Weka and Pentaho communities in a number of ways, described in the announcement and FAQ below.... read more

Bug in 3.4.6 and 3.5.1

Unfortunately, a bug crept in regarding the Experimenter in combination with cross-validation. Instead of summing up the differents folds of a run, they're listed as separate "classifiers" (prefixed with a number).

There a two ways to fix this:

  1. Easy:
Click on the select button for "Column" and select the three columns
    Scheme, Scheme_options and Scheme_version_ID
(they're already selected, so just click on "Select").... read more

MNIST

It is now possible to generate ARFF files from the raw data of the MNIST database - a benchmark dataset for SVMs.

There exist two different versions of the database, one with 576 features (discriminative features) and one with 784 features (pixel data).
For each of these versions you can download conversion scripts/classes to generate ARFF files from the raw data.

The ARFF files weren't uploaded due to the enormous size (> 100MB). Each ZIP file contains a README file that points to a web location where to obtain the original raw data.... read more
