I'm rather new to Webware and I was wondering about a couple of things. I'd
like to set up a couple of pages to be somewhat dynamically generated.
Basically I've got a base page with a number of divs inside. I'd like to
fill those divs with content specified in either xml, text, or even .py
files. From what I can tell, it seems that there are a number of approches
pain to get this to work crossbrowser that I don't see this as a very viable
option for any new development. CGI it seems could do the job, as well as
WebKit, but they do all of their work on the server.
I know a server side solution would be a lot more stable and less reliant
on the goodwill and standards compliance of various browsers due to it's
preprocessing of files into straight html/xhtml, but does this serve the end
user better. Does a server side solution slow down the process
Will my web host get cranky if I start using web kit? How do I use web kit
on my web host? Do they have to have it installed on their system or will I
be required to install it in my little portion of their server? Are there
any problems associated with integrating all of this?
Thanks, and sorry for the deluge of questions....
