Yes, please, someone who can, cut a new stable version from CVS. In our "spare time", we're trying to move to Webware for all our web sites, apps and online surveys, learning as we go. But we hit a wall with the bug documented here: http://www.mail-archive.com/web...@li.../msg01948.html I tried editing the source myself, but that didn't do it, and then replaced the file with the one from CVS, but still no go. Clearly I'm doing something wrong but it would be swell to not have to do it at all... and I'm sure anyone trying Webware for the first time and trying to set Webware to start up and shut down automatically with the OS is going to run into this. Many will give up and move on. It's not good to make newbies jump through those hoops to get the tool working the way it should... please, someone, test and cut a release to help grow the community of users. Has anyone else noticed that list activity is down sharply starting last September? See the counts at: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum=webware-discuss I want the project and community to grow, not shrink, and I think this is a critical step. As someone else posted in this thread, we can't just demand a new version, we need to step up ourselves. I think the guys who built this are geniuses and clearly they're busy, as they should be. My staff and I are not gurus enough to code Webware, so I can only contribute money to the process. I'll happily pay a $500 CAD bounty for a 1.0 release in 2004, plus $250 CAD for a tested catch-up-to-CVS 0.8.x or 0.9.x release in Q3 2004. I realize that's not much considering the work that may be involved, but we're a small company. If anyone else can add to the pool, please do. And let me know if there are other ways we can help this along. Shane McChesney President, Nooro Online Research http://www.nooro.com |
