I don't understand exactly what you want, but maybe this?

<% compute hidden_value %>
<input type="hidden" id="selected" name="selected"
     value="<%= hidden_value%>">

Or do you want to get the hidden value from a submitted form? You get it
like all other form fields with req.field('name_of_field').
