Webdisk version: 0.44
server OS : Redhat Linux 4 AS
webserver version: Tomcat 5.5.25
Client Platform: Windows XP
Web Browser : firefox 2.0.0.10 and IE 7.0
my name : rasika sudasinghe
email: rasikas@qatar.net.qa

I configured apache tomcat 5.5.25 , it's working fine.
tomcat base dir: /tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25

I created a folder called "ba" under /tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/webapps and places webdisk extracted files under "ba" directory.

And created "ba.xml" and placed it under /tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/conf/Catalina/localhost dir.

and configured web.xml by assigning the correct IP for samba server as well .This file is in /tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/webapps/ba/webapp/WEB-INF dir.

And restart tomcat.
but I can not access using "http://<my_machine>:8080/ba"

It returns http status 404 error that requested resource not available.

my ba.xml is as

<Context path="/ba" docBase="/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/webapps/ba/webapp" debug="0" reloadable="true">
<Manager className="org.apache.catalina.session.PersistentManager" saveOnRestart="false" />
</Context>

    Hello,

    you can check the Tomcat log-files and verify that the application gets loaded correctly when the server starts. Also you can check the application's status in "http://<your_machine>:8080/manager/html/". To run the manager, you need to have sth like
    <user username="admin" password="admin" roles="admin,manager"/>
    in "conf/tomcat-users.xml" (giving user "admin" with password "admin" access to the manager).

    bye
    Thomas

    I installed jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28 and now I can get the login page. But still I can not login to my samba server running on Linux.

    What could be the reason

    Hello,

    when a connection to a server fails, the error should be in catalina.out. You can check locally with smbmount if the samba configuration is ok. Since there can be a lot of reasons for login failure (account/password expired, wrong password, wrong login time, ...), I recommend to attach the exact error message and a screenshot. Also you might disable "ntlm" in web.xml and check your smb.conf for "server signing". Other problems might be related to Samba using plain text passwords or using DFS. Also the Samba version is relevant, so you might try "3.0.27a".

    My samba server is OK . I can login to samba share in linux using "\\<ip_address>\<userId" from windows machine. userid and password is correct.

    I installed 3.0.27a and add "server signing = Auto" in smb.conf file. Earlier there was no entry for "server signing"

    ntlm is disabled in web.xml.

    I can not see any error message in catalina.out. But I can the following entry when I try to log.
    [actionLogin] Mon Dec 03 14:05:03 AST 2007 WebDisk-Debug[login]: domain=, username=rasika

    I can see the following message as well in catalina.out
    [WebDisk] Charset not supported: Cp850

    I can login to the system by guest account.

    This is the error I can see in browser when tring to log.

    Access denied. smb://192.168.10.26/rasika/ (jCIFS: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password., -1073741715)

    bash-3.00# more /etc/samba/smb.conf-rasika

    when I set "security = user" in smb.conf , I can login now.
    Mr. Thomas , Thanks for the support.

    Is there any way to customise login page. For example , to include custom logo etc.?

    Hello,

    the login page is defined in "webapp/login.html". The logo is in "webapp/login_logo.gif".
