Slightly O/T perhaps, for which I apologize.
Many of you are probably running Webmin on a server with the Apache web
server application installed. We have a server with "spike behavior" in
resource usage. We've disabled just about everything Webmin could
possibly be involved in (background collection, process monitoring,
etc). So I think we've ruled out Webmin.
The only other application of importance running on that machine is
Is there any way Webmin (or related tool) can be used to monitor
individual threads / process instances of Apache to figure out which
site is actually causing these spikes? There's no real pattern to it,
and we've tried using mod_evasive (in case this is a DDOS), but
mod_evasive has issues for many web sites causing false positives.
