We use OpenLDAP for Linux and Samba authentication and keep users passwords for MySQL synchronized with their LDAP passwords. When they use the MySQL module in Usermin, it stores their password in plain text in the file ~/.usermin/mysql/config. I would like to eliminate storing the password in this manner. Our users authenticate to Usermin via PAM (uses their Linux password in OpenLDAP). I would like to modify the MySQL authentication to use the username and password that was used to authenticate to Usermin. Any ideas on how to get started on this? Thanks, Jason Joines =========== |

The very latest Usermin development version (available from www.webmin.com/devel.html) does have a feature that could help here. If you add the line pass_password=1 to /etc/usermin/miniserv.conf , it will make the environment variable $REMOTE_PASS available to all module CGI scripts. You should also remove the session=1 line from that same file, to force the use of normal HTTP authentication so that the password is always available, and re-start Usermin. Then, you can edit mysql/mysql-lib.pl and change the first $mysql_pass = line to $mysql_pass = $ENV{'REMOTE_PASS'}; - Jamie On Thu, 2004-02-26 at 05:07, Jason Joines wrote: > We use OpenLDAP for Linux and Samba authentication and keep users > passwords for MySQL synchronized with their LDAP passwords.
