Hi Jamie & All - Sorry to have such an open ended question, but I wanted to ask what we "think" will happen to folks using Java 7 using the File Manager module in Usermin when update 51 comes out in January. See the new security requirements for RIAs on the Oracle blog: https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/entry/new_security_requirements_for_rias We are currently using Usermin 1.510 over an SSL connection and when we utilize the File Manager applet, we get a pop up window that starts with a message "An unsigned application from the location below is requesting permission to run" followed by the server address and then a warning: "Running unsigned applications like this will be blocked in a future release because it is potentially unsafe and a security risk" In reading the blog post mentioned above it seems like starting with update 51, all WebStart apps and Applets will be required to be signed. If I understand the pop up window message correctly, the File Manager's applet is NOT signed, which will cause an issue when update 51 is released in our company... Jamie - can you confirm if the applet is signed or not and/or what the expected impact of update 51 will be to Java7 users? We rely pretty heavily on this functionality, so I'd like to prepare (as much as we can) for any changes, etc we may need to make for this java update. Thanks in advance for your insight, - Brian |
