As this was a new install, I decided to start from scratch incase it was (and I still have very little doubts that it is) user error, so I started again with a fresh install of Debian etch and with a new domain, to rule out some wierd goings on at my domain registrar I reinstalled etch, I ran the install script, set my hostname to "leeandvicki.com" and let it run. I also set up the nameservers at my registrar fro ns1.leeandvicki.com / ns2.leeandvicki.com instead of ns1.442froums.net / ns2.442forums.net so I could rule out any problems that way. I then installed php5-mysql because my main use for the site is a message board. I then moved over the 442forums.net domain, a second domain with a different registrar azazeldev.org and finally this morning I am awaiting a forth domain (again with a different registrar) 442forums.co.uk to test that. But I am still getting timeouts and DNS problems on all 3 domains, it is intermittant though. (442forums.co.uk is not yet live so I cant test that yet, i have also just reverted the nameservers on 442forums.net back to the registrar to try and start from scratch that way too, but as azazeldev.org is on a differnt registrar, I think its tested that) I know the re-installing is a stupid way out, but it really was for me a last resort. I really like virtualmin (and do plan on buying it when this is sorted as its cheaper than plesk and for me easier than cpanel) so I am loathed to have to drop back to basics and do it all manaully, one of the reasons i installed virtualmin was so I could do it alle asily and I was having problems with second domains etc setups by hand. /ect/bind/ included in the attatchment rather than add each file seperatly and make a long winded message. Hope this helps from a very frustrated Lee. |
