Hi Gordon, Its actually a race. I need the exact same functionality. Actually I need it kind of in Layers. Consider an appliance with three groups of users: - Customers - Customer Service (Techs) - Development In the customers group we would like a customer admin that can add "customer" accounts but can never add an account with more priveleges than itself. In the customer service group their will be an admin type account (perhaps the default customer service one), that can add customer service accounts and customer accounts, but never an account with more priveleges than the customer service account. Finally, you will have the development group which will operate with full access. The end result is you not only need a way to define groups, but "sub groups" that threshold the maximum capabilities of any groups or users created within that group. Anyway, I will be integrating Webmin into our product soon, and will end up having to make a patch that affects this sort of change. I should have it within the next month (other things to do also). On the other hand if you get to it first send your patch the webmin-devel list, and I will be most happy to use your work. As it is now, its a race (-; Cheers...james "Charrick, Gordon" <gor...@tf...>@lists.sourceforge.net on 08/23/2002 01:08:03 PM Please respond to web...@li... Sent by: web...@li... If worst comes to worst I may just have to hack the perl code to do what I want. -----Original Message----- From: Scott Sherwood [mailto:mai...@sh...] Sent: Friday, August 23, 2002 12:11 PM To: web...@li... Subject: Re: Restricting the webmin-users module? My apologies, Gordon! I see that you were referring to the "Webmin Users" module, and not the "Users and Groups" module. Maybe I should read first, huh? =) That's an interesting one. You can limit the users that this person can edit, but when they create a user, that user won't show up in the list for them until you configure it that way. Maybe in another release?
