I'm running a server with CentOS Linux 6.5 and Webmin 1.660. Until a few hours ago the server did run without any problems. But after doing the latest YUM-update the MySQL-server 5.1.71 won't start. When I press the START MYSQL SERVER-button, I get the message:
Another MySQL daemon already running with the same unix socket.
Starting mysqld: [FAILED]
But when I try to use a database at a website i get the message:
MySQL error: Could not connect to database. Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Can some help please to help me fix this problem so the database server will run again?
wow. this is feb already - hope its fixed by now. also try shutting mysql off first. (should get error too). you need to check your socket file AND PID FILE. make sure they match up in the my.conf. delete theses files and start.
been there done that.
