    Greetings, I have applied a basic configuration of dovecot and postfix on my server but I can't login with outlook.

    I can provide more information upon request.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Can you login with telnet on localhost?  Try both the name alone and full email address e.g. myname and myname@myemail.com

    You should get something like:
    $ telnet localhost 110
    Trying ::1…
    Connected to localhost.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    +OK server ready
    USER myname
    +OK Password required.
    PASS foo
    +OK user.myname has 3 messages (1548 octets).
    QUIT

    It gives this response: "Connection refused"

    Is dovecot running?  What troubleshooting steps have you taken or considered?  Did you follow an installation guide for configuring dovecot and postfix?  Did you check your changes?  Can you log into postfix with telnet on port 25?

    Dovecot is running but not responsing neither on telnet nor on outlook. None troubleshooting step. Yep checked various guides but not a particular for the latest version. Yes changes are checked and applied. I can just telnet it on localhost and it reaches the step where it says "escape character is…" but nothing more

    Does the webmin dovecot module show status?

    What does netstat show about port 110?

    Restart dovecot, try to login with telnet on localhost and check the mail log file.

    What do all those messages suggest to you?  What do you see in the relevant Webmin modules?
