Changing the administrator username via "Server Configuration" -> "Change Domain Name" -> "Change administration username?" does not rename the username if a "secondary group" was set via "System Settings" -> "Server Templates" -> click on "Default Settings" -> "Edit Server Template" change dropdown to "Administration User" -> "Add domain to secondary group" -> "Selected group" (example here: set to "allowed_ssh_login_users").

At this time of Virtualmin version 3.80.gpl, if a "secondary group" was set in the server template to: "allowed_ssh_login_users", and the "Change administration username" was changed from (example) "underdog" to "fredflinstone", then the members of the group named "allowed_ssh_login_users" in /etc/group would not be corrected. That is, "underdog" would still be in allowed_ssh_login_users instead of being renamed to "fredflinstone" as [assumed] it should since the Server Template has a secondary group assigned.

The Server Template being used is "Default Settings".

Question: Does the server template "Default Settings" only get used during the provisioning of the site and never again?

Thank you for Virtualmin!

Thanks - I will fix this bug in the next Virtualmin release (3.81).

And yes, the template is generally only used at creation time.

  • Thank you for the bugfix and the Template verification (used only at provisioning).
