I have configured all paths for gtk2 and qt with
ccmake -i ../vxl-src
and after the configure it shows me VGUI_USE_GTK2 but if I compile
the core/vgui section it dose not include the GTK2 with

with ccmake a more verbose output to see what tests are done?
I have similar problems with qt. GLUT is working.
thanks for any hint

Similar suggestions would apply to Qt.
