If you are trying to use Visual Studio 2005 (version 8.0) to build
VXL, you may have noticed that VS8 has a bug which hangs VS for many
minutes with "updating IntelliSense". Sometimes VS freezes. There
is a thread on the MSDN Forums at:
about how to disable IntelliSense. It involves an undocumented fix,
renaming or deleting <VS root path>\VC\vcpackages\feacp.dll, deleting
the file \bin\vxl.ncb (in the directory where vxl.sln file is placed
by CMake) and creating a directory named vxl.ncb in that same
directory. These changes effectively turn off IntelliSense.
There are some MS employees on this thread that say MS is working on
some fixes for this problem, which apparently surfaces when very
large packages with many templates (like VXL) are built.
I just mention this in case you have experienced this problem and
were wondering what to do.
