Hi Fred, Please ignore the build on 20050815-0300, I believe our computer was at fault then. I was in fact referring to the errors such as http://www.cs.rpi.edu/research/groups/vision/vxl/Testing/Sites/imorphics /Win2k-msvc-6sp5-Debug/20050816-0900-Experimental/Test.html http://www.cs.rpi.edu/research/groups/vision/vxl/Testing/Sites/crd.ge.co m/Win2k_msvc-6.0sp5_Debug/20050816-0833-Continuous/Test.html http://www.cs.rpi.edu/research/groups/vision/vxl/Testing/Sites/crd.ge.co m/Win2k_msvc-7.0_Debug/20050816-0808-Continuous/Test.html where the problem is not one of compiling or linking but during execution of the test itself. In our case, a windows error dialog is displayed, pausing all the tests until manually dismissed. (The error dialog specifies vcl_test_vector and reports something about damage to memory block, with the standard Abort, Retry, Ignore options). Aborting the dialog causes that particular test to fail (with a timeout message as well), but all subsequent tests proceed as normal. I tried to run the test directly in Visual Studio, with results as described in my original email (see below). I can also now add that the problem does not seem to occur in Release configurations, only in Debug. -----Original Message----- From: Wheeler, Frederick W (Research) [mailto:wh...@cr...] Sent: 16 August 2005 14:56 To: ke...@im... Cc: Perera, Amitha (Research) Subject: FW: Problem with vcl_test_vector Hello Kevin, Is this one of the dashboard errors you are referring to? You mentioned that other build sare having a similar problem, but I don't see any. http://www.cs.rpi.edu/research/groups/vxl/Testing/Sites/imorphics/Win2k- msvc-6sp5-Debug/20050815-0300-Nightly/BuildError.html This error says "LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "Debug/vcl_test_all.exe"", why are the VCL tests running? Perhaps dart is running and old build of the vcl_test_all.exe exec? Does the build dir get cleaned each day? Can you delete Debug/vcl_test_all.exe? Can you give me some more details on the problem? Does tests/test_vector.cxx build? Does vcl_test_all.exe link? What happens when vcl_test_all.exe is run? Please CC the maintainers list when you reply. Subject: Problem with vcl_test_vector Dear Fred, Our Dart client has been having problems with vcl_test_vector for about 2 weeks. I'm contacting you because I think you made the most recent change. Our client runs Win2k, vc6, sp5, in Debug configuration. I've noticed similar problems on some but not all clients on the vxl dashboard. As far as my simple attempts at debugging have gone, the problem seems to occur at line 54 of test_vector.cxx, after the statement vcl_nth_element(bv.begin(), bv.begin()+1, bv.end()); and seems to be a problem with the destruction of vcl_vector<bool> bv when it goes out of scope at the end of the block. Beyond that, I'm at a loss as to what's going on. I'd be grateful for any suggestions you may have. Kevin, I fixed the problem. It was a bug that was my fault. Here's the diff. = It's checked in. 52,53c52,53 < bv[1] =3D true; < bv[2] =3D false; --- > bv[0] =3D true; > bv[1] =3D false; Fred > -----Original Message----- > From: Kevin de Souza [mailto:ke...@im...] > Sent: Tuesday, August 16, 2005 10:26 AM > To: Wheeler, Frederick W (Research) > Cc: vxl...@li... > Subject: RE: Problem with vcl_test_vector >=20 >=20 > Hi Fred, >=20 > Please ignore the build on 20050815-0300, I believe our=20 > computer was at > fault then. Does the test work if you comment out this line? Can you test that = easily? vcl_nth_element(bv.begin(), bv.begin()+1, bv.end()); nth_element does a partial sort. Perhaps sorting bools causes some sort = of problem? If commenting this line out makes it work check in the change, and = Amitha and I will change it to something else.
