Hi vxl community, The Rensselaer group recently added another library named rgrl to contrib/rpl. This library includes a set of techniques for a variety of correspondence-based registration algorithms. The code has been revised several times and tested extensively before release. Image registration is the process of determining the spatial transform that maps points from one image (the moving image) to corresponding points in the target image (the fixed image). The most well-developed and widely-known toolkit for medical image registration is the Insight Toolkit (ITK), which focuses on intensity-based methods. The rgrl library complements that of ITK by emphasizing correspondence-based registration. The notion of a correspondence extends from traditional closest-point based matching, to recent hybrids of intensity-based and feature-based techniques where the matching of image intensities creates temporary correspondences. We compiled a user guide, ${contrib_dir}/rpl/rgrl/doc/SoftwareGuide.pdf, which contains examples (directly from ${contrib_dir}/rpl/rgrl/examples) to illustrate features of the library. Gary |
