I actually didn't notice the recent activity in regards to different j2k support.   I'll be happy to work out any conflicts that occur from a different implementation but from what I can tell it should be okay.  Please let me know.  The OpenJPEG integration was something we had completed almost a year ago but just got approval for public release.  It's not the fastest but it is open.

I've just commited JPEG2000 support via OpenJPEG v2 into vil.  At the moment this is limited to only read support.  The core vil reader was implemented by myself and the pyramid decoding was implemented by Matthew Woehlke here at Kitware.  As far as I can see it should not interfere with the existing JP2 reader (uses the proprietary ECW SDK).  Please let me know if there are any questions / comments / problems.
