I have added a range mapping capability to VGUI’s image display. There is a new section in the “Book” VGUI chapter that describes the details. Briefly, the new capability allows display of image pixel formats with more dynamic range than vxl_byte. For example, unsigned short and float images can now be displayed. Previously, the image rendering process just clamped input pixel values to the [0 255] interval. The range mapping process uses Open GL hardware lookup tables where possible.
