On the other hand, conversion to one data format for indexing and display is always necessary (even with wondertools like Primo, I think they call it PNX ("Primo normalized XML") there, by the way: is there some publicly available schema/documentation of PNX?). So the question is: Is MARC a good format as "backend format" in VuFind? I don't like those dogmatic format discussions you sometimes have with librarians ("Dublin Core application profile LaberWurz is much better for expressing dog-ears on uneven pages than MAB2"), so I don't want to start one here. But some pragmatic thoughts on MARC and if it's suitable as "backend format" in VuFind for indexing and display might be useful (as long as someone then helps implementing the findings of that discussion :-).
