The easiest way to exclude some format values from the facet list would be to create two Solr fields – one for faceted formats, one for non-faceted formats; then you would only use the facet field for faceting, but you could merge the values from both fields for display purposes.  This could be achieved with a bit if import reconfiguration and some small record driver customizations.  Let me know if you need more details.

Thanks that got it working J

I was wondering if there is a way to have some Formats display on the item in the search results and record page, but not be facetable?

Thanks,

Tom

The DataField class includes getIndicator1() and getIndicator2() methods which can be used to access the data you mention.  More documentation here:

I hope this is helpful; let me know if you still have questions.

Hi,

I was wondering if the format.bsh index script supports reading the numbers at the beginning of a marc field? For example the following two 856 fields:

856         4              2              |3 Contributor biographical information  |u http://www.loc.gov/catdir/bios/wiley044/2002028892.html

856         4              0              |3 SpringerLink  |u http://dx.doi.org /10.1007/978-3-540-93956-6  |z An electronic book accessible through the World Wide Web; click for information

I want to be able to read the column that has the 2 and 0, and use that to help determine what format icon to associate with Record.

Thanks,

Tom
