The new item search in VuFind relies on your ILS driver to tell it which items are new.  Many drivers don’t currently support this feature, and even those that do won’t help you with items that come from other sources.

Fortunately, a patch has recently been provided which instead uses VuFind’s internal change-tracking fields to locate new items:

http://vufind.org/jira/browse/VUFIND-624

This will probably serve you better, though you’ll have to be sure you enable change tracking:

http://vufind.org/wiki/tracking_record_changes

(Note that this will probably require changes to both your MARC import settings and your Eprints XSLT followed by a reindex).

Subject: [VuFind-General] New item search empty

Hi List,

I have some items in VuFind that I know are relatively new i.e. less than 30 days old, that I had imported from ePrints repo. But when I try to search for new items(using filter of past 30 days) it keeps saying

"No new item information is currently available"

I also get a notice in the screen saying

Notice: Undefined index: count in C:\vufind\vufind-1.3\web\services\Search\NewItem.php on line 120.

Any ideas?

Thanks
