Hi Mike,

Here are the details I was given by Greg. I had the same problem as you and a reload with the specified changes to the marc.properties file did the job for me:

I just dropped the marc file into the import directory and ran this:

java -Xms512m -Xmx512m -Dsolr.core.name=biblio -Dsolrmarc.path=c:/vufind/import -Dsolr.path=c:/vufind/solr -Dmarc.path=c:/vufind/import/catalog.mrc -jar c:/vufind/import/dist/MarcImporter.jar c:/vufind/import/import.properties

I pulled apart the linux shell script and replaced the bits I needed with windows equivalents to get that. The first index you might get errors as solrmarc comes across data it can't handle (every catalogue is just that little bit different), but generally you'll still get some useable data into the system for testing. Our biggest culprits were some of the call number fields so I just commented them out of the marc.properties file.

#callnumber-subject = custom, getCallNumberSubject, callnumber_subject_map.properties
#callnumber-subject-code = custom, getCallNumberSubject

Cheers,

Luke

Hi all. I'm coming back to Vufind after a long hiatus:) I did a fresh install on Windows XP VMWare and I got it mostly working. I ran into a problem as is displayed in the following screen

http://screencast.com/t/JzQlCzmhN

The short of it is this:

I successfully indexed records. The folder c:\vufind\solr\biblio\index is populated with solr index files as the indexer runs and completes successfully. However the solr admin page for the biblio (and stats and authority) index shows 0 numDocs, even after I restart the Solr server.

At one point I stopped the server, deleted all the files in the index folder and restarted and it gave me a severe error. I had to repopulate the index folder with segment files before it worked again so I know that the jetty server is looking in the right place for data.

I indexed using this line in the command prompt:

Java -Xms256m -Xmx256m -Dsolr.core.name=biblio -Dsolrmarc.path=C:/vufind.import -Dsolr.path=C:/vufind/solr -Dmarc.path=c:/vufind/import/catdump.mrc -jar c:/vufind/import/dist/MarcImport.jar c:/vufind/import/import.properties

Any ideas on where to look for this one? I'm a bit stumped at the end of a long day. I hope it's something silly that I missed.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the e-mail. I am using a windows installation and Greg from Australia has send me instructions on how to import some test data which I downloaded from the library of congress.

Everything is working fine now.

Kind Regards,

Luke

Luke - I believe you are reading outdated documentation.  Please let me know where you found this so I can be sure to update it.

Currently, VuFind only imports binary Marc21 records.  To so, you can run the import.sh script at the command line.

Dear All,

I have downloaded a few marc records from the library of congress to load into vufind.

I have managed to create an xml file using YAZ but cannot find the import php file.

According to the installation instructions:

Copy the MarcXML file into the import directory and make sure it is named catalog.xml.
Then simply run the import/import-solr.php script from the command line:
%> php import-solr.php

I am unable to find any file called import-solr.php.

Kind regards,

DV
