I know it bloats the language files, but I would suggest going even further. Back when the advanced search screen was being overhauled I started putting in strings that showed the screen they came from, or at least context of usage. It adds more control for minor tweaks to individual screens by non-tech staff.

In this context I guess the indexes would be something like: 'date_to', 'date_slider_to', 'email_to' etc.

I stumbeld over a translation issue due to an ambivalent key in Vufind 1.1:

To = "To" has been translated up to now in German with: To = An

This key is now used in pubdate_slider as "from" "to". Here the german
tranlsation should be "Von" "Bis" instead of "Von" "An".

Because the pubdate_slider is very strongly exposed, and the wrong
translation ("An") is very weird, I changed the key to "Bis" and
committed it to the trunk.

I know see that the same key is also used in the context of sending
emails/sms. So the german translation is different and should be "An" as
it was.

To resolve the issue, I think we should use separate keys. E.g.:

To = An
Till = Bis

Sorry for the mess.
