The current Innovative functionality is all based on screen-scraping of the existing OPAC, so if the data is available there, it should be possible to pass it along to VuFind.  I’m not an Innovative user myself, but if you have an example URL to show in your native Innovative OPAC, I might be able to offer some suggestions.

By “requestable,” I assume you’re referring to holds/recalls – presently the Innovative driver does not support this functionality, but it might be possible to implement it by proxying the existing native functionality -- though I’m not sure how difficult that would be in practice.

Regarding bibs without item records, did you see this JIRA ticket?

http://vufind.org/jira/browse/VUFIND-319

I don’t think it exactly relates to what you are asking, but it might be at least tangentially related.

Good luck – hopefully you’ll also get some better answers from actual Innovative users in the near future!

Subject: [VuFind-Tech] VuFind w/ Innovative: Showing On Order & In Process statuses

If you are using or working with VuFind on top of an Innovative Interfaces OPAC, how are you capturing real-time on order and in process status information from the order record data?

Also, have you figured out a way to make these titles requestable, prior to cataloging and creation of an item record?

All suggestions welcome.

As requested, here's the VU-specific format script -- as previously noted, the code isn't pretty!

Have you had a chance to look at David Walker's work?  Do you still want me to take a closer look at your patch, or do you think we would be better off migrating toward the more universal approach that he proposed?

I think so too. Tried it out over the weekend, worked great and the code is very clean. Can we get it incorporated into VufindIndexer as a start? That way we can start testing with it right away.

I've just forwarded David's original emails to solrmarc-tech and proposed that we make his format functionality part of the SolrMarc core.  If I get a response to that in the next couple of days, I can move forward on that at we can bypass the extra work of updating the VufindIndexer...  but if I don't get any timely feedback, that remains a viable option.  I'll let you know what happens!

Hi all,

A small patch to allow side facets to be on the left hand side and jquery tabs for record display tabs. This is only for the blueprint theme. I would like to commit this to the trunk soon so please let me know if this will cause any problem.

A few quick thoughts:

1.) I see you have updated the fines template to use the raw data instead of the datagrid code.  This enhancement is probably worth committing separately since it is not related to anything else in the patch.  If you like, I'm willing to work on incorporating the same change into the classic and default themes in order to completely remove the datagrid dependency.

2.) Is there really a need for the useJStabs config.ini setting?  Would anyone really want to disable this feature?  As long as it gracefully degrades when Javascript is disabled, I don't see any downside to having the support turned on.  Perhaps it is better to make it a default characteristic of the blueprint theme -- that way we don't have a theme-specific setting in config.ini, and users can still disable it if they want by customizing the theme.

3.) On a somewhat related note, I would be more comfortable with the "sidebarOnLeft" setting if it were also supported by the classic and default themes.  Have you looked into whether there might be a simple way of implementing this?  If not, I'm willing to spend some time on it later in the week.  If there is no clean way of making this work in classic and default, it wouldn't be the end of the world to have a setting where the comment says "only supported by blueprint theme"... but I would like to avoid that if at all possible.

I haven't actually tried the code yet, but I may have time to test it out in a couple of days.  Have you done much cross-browser testing?  I can help with that if necessary.

Sounds good!  If you want to send me separate patches for the datagrid piece and the updated tab/sidebar stuff, I'll take another look (and do some IE testing) later in the week.

Exactly how are you calling the optimize tool from scripts or cron?  The most likely problem has to do with path settings -- if you're just doing something like

php /usr/local/vufind/util/optimize.php

it is possible that the "php" command cannot be found because the PATH environment variable may be different in the script/cron context than it was in your shell login.  You may have to be more specific... i.e.:

/usr/bin/php /usr/local/vufind/util/optimize.php

If that still doesn't help, it might also be interesting to see if switching the current directory makes a difference...  i.e.:

cd /usr/local/vufind/util; /usr/bin/php optimize.php

I don't think the directory switch should be necessary, but if it solves your problem, please let me know so I can look into making the script less picky about its location.

I hope this helps -- let me know if you're still having trouble!

thanks,
Demian

There should be xISSN support built into VuFind by default as part of the "other editions" function of the record view -- see IndexRecord::getEditions in web/RecordDrivers/IndexRecord.php.  Have you taken a look at that?  If you're having trouble with it, chances are you are exceeding your usage limit.  This can probably be resolved by getting in touch with OCLC and asking them to bump up your allowances -- I believe that they are usually able to do this for you without any extra fees.

Here is the updated patch with jstabnav as default. Let me know if you find anything that needs fixing.

I see you have updated the fines template to use the raw data instead of the datagrid code.  This enhancement is probably worth committing separately since it is not related to anything else in the patch.  If you like, I'm willing to work on incorporating the same change into the classic and default themes in order to completely remove the datagrid dependency.

Is there really a need for the useJStabs config.ini setting?  Would anyone really want to disable this feature?  As long as it gracefully degrades when Javascript is disabled, I don't see any downside to having the support turned on.  Perhaps it is better to make it a default characteristic of the blueprint theme -- that way we don't have a theme-specific setting in config.ini, and users can still disable it if they want by customizing the theme.

On a somewhat related note, I would be more comfortable with the "sidebarOnLeft" setting if it were also supported by the classic and default themes.
