Looks good Steve,

Did you come across issues other then the ILMS driver? Specifically related to multiple data sources I mean :)

Hi

I basically followed Greg's idea and prefixed the bib_ids with letter codes.  I am connecting to a single brand of ILS (Voyager) but three separate databases, so I just added some modifications to the Voyager.php driver and some other files to get the Campus to display.  I currently have some of the records from three different campuses loaded in a test system if you would like  to see it in action.

Hi Geoff,

It's definitely possible, just not out of the box. I seem to recall this same question came up a while back and got me thinking at the time.

The method I'd try is prefixing the bid_ids from each system during the index process eg:

A0001

B0001

C0001

Then build a 'pseudo' ILMS driver that looks at the bib_id and decides which real ILMS driver to use, basically a mostly empty class full of wrapper functions.

I think the idea has real legs :) No doubt there'd be the occasional 'gotcha' during implementation, but nothing too big.

Hope that helps,

Subject: [VuFind-General] VuFind with different ILS's

Hi,

Next year we will be bringing parts of 3 different libraries on 3 different library systems together at one research site. We would like to offer the staff at this site a union catalogue of all 3 ILS holdings.

Can VuFind records link to holdings from 3 different ILS’s or does everyone need to be on the same system?

Thanks

Geoff
