Yes we’ll certainly be maintaining the code after the project ends – and I’ll add a link to the code.google repository on the VuFind wiki.
I’m not sure about the dependencies question – when RC2 comes out we have a big project ahead of us to re-integrate all of our customisations into the new release, and to try and stay much closer to the trunk version (we’re really running a little fork of our own at the moment, like many sites). I think that will show us if there are too many local dependencies that mean it couldn’t be integrated into the main trunk. In the meantime anyone who is using a vanilla install is welcome to test it and let us know whether it works!

This is very interesting. Our VuFind install isn't connected to a ILS backend, so I haven't had reason to try out any of your widgets yet. If the code is going to maintained after the project finishes, then I think there should be a link out from the VuFind wiki (under "Third party Addons" maybe?) to the VuFind files. Is there scope to integrate any of this into the VuFind trunk or does it have depenencies that won't suit everyone?
Just a reminder about the LSE's 'widgets' project (and then I won't
mention it on this list again). The project formally comes to a close at
the end of this month, but we're still keen to see other sites trying
out the software, and our developer has a (little) bit of spare time
before the 30th November to try and help anyone out there with
We've been running the renewals plugin on VuFind since the start of term
and it's been working very smoothly. We've also got widgets working in
Facebook, Google, and Moodle. Latest update is that we've got fines
payments working using Voyager 7's enhanced SIP2 implementation. N.b.
end-to-end payment would still require some integration with your local
finance systems, but we're intending to start up a follow-on project to
look into end-to-end payments on VuFind.
The blog, and downloads, are here

Thanks. If anyone is interested in giving it a whirl please let us know
- we're happy to provide assistance in getting it running.
We're on Voyager 6.5.3 at the moment, which works with the current
renewals api. We have Voyager 7 on our development server though, and
we're hoping that the improved SIP2 functionality in v7 will mean that
we can develop a fine payment widget that works with that.

Thanks for sharing this -- looks like interesting work!
What version of Voyager are you using? I'm not familiar with Voyager's
SIP2 support, but it looks like the techniques you used here might be
adaptable as improvements to VuFind's Voyager driver....
