Ensure that VStar's use of Julian Day/Date is correct and consistent throughout. Specifically, the Julian Day or Julian Day Number is the integral portion of the Julian Date, at least according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_day. What does Meeus say?

Meeus uses Julian Day Number and Julian Day interchangeably, so for him it includes the integral and optionally fractional components. He is keen to not use Julian Date in this context to avoid confusion with the Julian Calendar.

As far as I am aware, we now use JD or Julian Day uniformly in VStar. Someone please check this and close if happy.

Actually, I take that back. A grep of the code shows that it has not been fixed. A mixture of JD, Julian Day, and Julian Date are still present in comments and strings.

There are also instances in HelpContents.html where it looks like Julian Day should be replaced with Julian Date or simply JD.

Given the comment about Meeus's aversion to the use of Julian Date, do we want to use JD?

Thanks for your analysis Mike. I agree with your conclusion. Please go ahead. Thanks!

The PDF you pointed to is useful re: this.

A good example of one occurrence that should be changed is in the obs list.
