Hello, I am trying to install VR Juggler 2.2.1, I run build_windows.py but
the following error appears: ERROR: Visual Studio commands are not in your
path! Run vsvars32.bat in this shell or update the %PATH% environment
variable on your system Exiting wuth status 1 (no Visual studio installation
found) Press <ENTER> to quit... I have installed gcc version 3.4.5 and rm
4.1 I installed vrjuggler-2.2.1-1-vc80-setup.exe before but it does not have
the makefiles to compile the sample applications, so I uninstall it and now
I am trying to compile de source code. Is there a way to install VR Juggler
without Visual Studio or using only open source applications on Windows XP?

The Windows build never reached a point where it could be built with GCC. I
tried, but interest among developers and users at the time (ca. 2002-3) was
basically zero. As such, the use of Visual Studio is required. This is true
for the sample applications, too. Makefiles for Windows stopped being
distributed a long, long time ago because they were never really good enough
for the average user's needs.
You can build VR Juggler 2.2 using Visual C++ Express Edition, although the
build_windows.py script will require some modifications in order to work
with it. Off the top of my head, you would need to do at least the following:
* Add the path to the Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition installation
* Change the use of devenv.exe to vcexpress.exe
The build_windows.py script will choose to use the solution from vc8
subtree, and Visual C++ will have to upgrade the project files first. All of
that will be done automatically (after you confirm it) when vcexpress.exe
runs. You may also find that Visual C++ will complain that the x64
architecture target is not available. That may only happen with Visual C++
2005 Express Edition, though. I don't remember for sure.
