Don't know how Debian does it, but on my Fedora system there's a .vnc folder
which has an "xstartup" file which looks like this:
# Red Hat Linux VNC session startup script
I'm guessing that Debian has something similar...

Subject: Blank screen when connected to Debian Linux Tightvnc Server from
My problem is this, I have a Debian Linux system on my LAN that I would like
to establish a vnc connection to. I am able to connect over ssh and start
'vncserver', when I connect to the server I am left with a blank screen with
an 'X' for a mouse cursor. I've tried editing my xstartup file to have it
load kde using 'exec kdm' but that doesn't work, I've also tried 'exec
startx' and 'exec gdm' it launches kde on the system, but is not viewable in
the WinVnc Viewer window.
Thank you in advance,
