I would be nice to have a web interface which can
modify the DB file (to add new MAC addresses, vlans,
etc). Also to be able to search for users on MAC
address, or switch & port. And list log events like
unknown devices sending requests or black listed MAC
addresses trying to connect, etc.

Also some sort of automatic vlan selection from a list
of specified vlans, for example, if you specify a
group of vlans then each vlan is given an eqaul number
of users on them. So vlans don't get over crowded. Or
specifying how many users on each vlan before
assigning users to the next vlan.

A graphical display of how many users/MAC addresses
are online and on each vlan would be nice too.

As said before on here, most of these features are included
in the webinterface I have built for this. Will see if I
can add some of the functionality you describe at some
    point.
You will find the current interface at
    http://vmps.evilgeekz.com/
    Hope this helps.

This functionality is outside the scope of the simple OpenVMPS daemon, but is provided by an independent project - http://sourceforge.net/projects/vmps-srv/ and by the FreeNAC project, that OpenVMPS is now included with - http://freenac.net
