#16 Vim7 filetype detection problem

It appears that one must add this

let g:tex_flavor='latex'

to one's .vimrc or _vimrc to get Vim7 -- for win32 and
Linux, at least -- to play nice with vim-latex when
editing an empty or new file with 'tex' as its
extension. I found this out when I started the
vim-latex tutorial (':e newfile.tex') and got no
vim-latex menus, shortcuts, or other niceties. Someone
on the list told me to try setting the filetype
manually to 'tex' and that worked, so I dug around and
found in $VIMRUNTIME/filetype.vim that the tex_flavor
gets set to 'plain' by default and can be set by the
user as shown above.

    I have the same problem with Vim7 on OS X. Running "set
    filetype=tex" does provide a workaround, though.
