When trying to export a layer to .kml, I get the error message "The filename you requested could not be opened for writing.". Access permissions are fine, this also happens when running viking as root.

Viking v1.2
Ubuntu 10.10 x86 2.6.35-29-generic-pae

Please let me know how I can help debugging this issue!

First, confirm you have GPSBabel installed (and is in your $PATH) - if not then this is one of the failures that give you the message you saw.

Otherwise, presumably exporting to GPX works OK?

To help debug some instructions are on the wiki:
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/viking/index.php?title=Contribute

The best function to break is probably:
    a_babel_convert_to

My bad - I missed the GPSBabel thing. Thanks for the quick hint! Cheers, rooots.
