The extension "mbstring" is non-default, and may not exist on every host. [http://www.php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php] Therefore, the function fix_encoding() will throw an error on hosts which do not have the mbstring extension. Attached is a patch to use function_exists() to check for both mb_detect_encoding and mb_check_encoding before trying to use them. It is against the latest git HEAD.

Discussion

  • Thanks for the patch. It's okay otherwise, but I would like authors to have an e-mail address that can actually reach them :-) Plus, I'm worried about the invalid mail address breaking various scripts.

I would have used your sourceforge.net alias lsowen@users.sf.net, but it seems undeliverable. Can you provide some e-mail address I can use? :-)

  • Or just tell me if it's okay to use your sourceforge.net e-mail alias, even if it is undeliverable.

I've updated my SF account so emails sent to me SF email alias should now work. Thanks!
