For several months by now, I have been using this little program I
wrote (python + Gtk+) because I needed some software to keep track of
the movie I burned, and to easily decide what to burn.
The homepage of the tool is http://www.mardy.it/vdbmaster
The webpage is written in interlingua and even though I guess most of
the people here will be able to understand it, I'm going to translate
the relevant features.
Basically, this program connects to the VideoDB database and shows a
list of the movies who haven't been burned yet (i.e., they have their
"diskid" field empty). You can select them, and while you do so, the
total disk size is updated accordingly (and it gets red when it's bigger
than 4.7 GB).
Once you have decided, you chose a name for your DVD and press "Crea":
a directory tree containing your movies (actually, just the symlinks to
them) is created, and you can alter it from a console (for instance, you
might want to add files not present in VideoDB) and check that
everything is OK.
Then you press "Scribe" and growisofs is called to burn your DVD.
When it's finished, you press "Reporta": vdbmaster will update your
VideoDB database setting the "diskid" field to the name of the DVD you
just burned. Also, you'll be asked whether you want the original files
to be deleted from your HD.
This program works with titles spanning more than 1 files; in that case,
their name must end with a number (before the extension). As a matter of
fact, every file differing from the name you selected just for the
extension will be written to the DVD. For instance, if you have:
and in VideoDB you wrote "my movie.avi" as the filename of your movie,
both of these files will be written. So, if you have in VideoDB a movie
"I love VideoDB - CD1.ogm", all of these files will be selected for the
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD1.ogm
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD1.sub
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD1.idx
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD1.srt
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD2.ogm
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD2.sub
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD2.idx
/movies/I love VideoDB - CD2.srt
Well, that's all. Feel free to post a message to the site for general
comments/suggestions (or here in the ML, as long the other participants
will allow you ;-) ).
