I use an old laptop that <sigh> doesn't have a working
sound card.

I have found Microsoft's "speak.exe", which installs a
wave device for playing wave files. However, almost all
programs (except sndrec and windows kernel) expect a
"sounds and multimedia" device or something, normally a
sound card. I think I can get the VDMSound project to
work for my solution, but i have found very few virtual
drivers for my cause.
