I've chosen GTK+ 2 to do it, using the C++ wrapper gtkmm and
the glade loader libglademm. The beginning of this GUI is
available in the CVS.
Pass --enable-gtk to the configure script. Then do make and
make install. The binary with the GTK+ GUI is called
gVisualBoyAdvance. If you have any other idea about the
binary name (something shorter like gvba ?), let me know :)

Hmm, a nice start. More than enough, for me, to fill my
request.
A few more features such as controls configuration, game
genie / action replay code searching would be good but a
nice start all the same :)
Oh and yes, gvba might be less of a mouth full.
