I have a 2.4.21 UML instance (in SKAS mode) running over same host kernel,
and all is ok.
When I try to run an application (Smallworld Internet Application Server), I
get this error in /var/log/messages:
Jan 30 14:47:39 sias1 kernel: map : /proc/mm map failed, errno = 12
Jan 30 14:47:40 sias1 last message repeated 630 times
Jan 30 14:47:40 sias1 kernel: m map failed, errno = 12
The error occurs when the application is trying to connect to a remote
Smallworld GIS database.
I'm searching in the mail-list for this problem and I tried to solve with
the responses in the list, but I don't have any good result.
Thank you in advance.

Try increasing /proc/sys/vm/max_map_count. You can hit this limit with a
sufficiently large process inside UML (the default of 65536 maps equates
to a 256M process).
