G'day all, I'm using Debian Sarge with 2.4.22 and 2.6.0-test9 self compiled kernels as the host OS, and the Debian supplied 2.4.22-um5, self compiled 2.4.22-um6 and 2.6.0-test9-um1 kernels. All self compiled UML kernels are built using the default config make mrproper make ARCH=um menuconfig and save config with no changes 2.4.22-um6 is built with make ARCH=um dep linux 2.6.0-test9-um1 is built with make ARCH=um linux All uml kernels work fine on 2.4.22 host with or without the host skas patch installed. None of them work on a 2.6.0-test9 host. The 2.4.22-um kernels halt at init startup complaing of tracing themselves just after this line VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. I'm tracing myself and I can't get out the 2.6.0-test9-um kernel just hangs at VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. I have tried with three different uml filesystems. A full Debian sid image, a full Debian Woody image and a Debian woody rescue disk, and I have also tried all three with init=/bin/sh It works every time under a 2.4.22 host but dies under a 2.6.0-test9 host. Is there any more info I can supply ? Brad |
