how can I have virtual consoles pop up in xterms ? My
first tries (e.g. con=xterm as command line option) made
the main console come up in a xterm but no others.
Do I have to modify /etc/inittab or is there an solution
with command line options only ?
Thanks in advance,

This is the default behaivour. The fact that its not working would
indicate one of the following possible problems.
1) You have not install uml-utilities, or have installed it somewhere
different (hint: /usr/lib/uml/port-helper must exist for xterms to work)
2) You do not have xterm installed (`which xterm`)
3) You've compiled a custom kernel, and turned off xterm support.
4) You've passed a kernel parameter such as xterm= which is causing
it to fail.
PS. You don't need to specify con=xterm, or anything to do with virtual
terminals for the default behaivour.
