Well it is also possible that you have run out of space in the tmp file
used as memory, are you using a tmpfs filesystem on /tmp does df show
>1GB of space available before you start the UML, I have hit this a few
times when running with a default tmpfs mount size and a large UML memory
Nice host system, 6G should be enough memory for tmpfs, and 1G for UML
should not require a extra CONFIG_KERNEL_HALF_GIG either.
